Stock Control
From the moment the producers' consignment is entered on to the Joburg Market's central computerised system, the hall manager and his/her hall supervisors routinely follow up on stock control.
Now as part of developments of ‘Market of The Future’, the Joburg Market is implementing an innovative new technology interface between its finance and administration system. Dubbed, FarmLink24, the new system will transform the way in which farmers submit information to the Market and will make the administration and availability of information far more efficient. The system is internet based and allows the farmer to submit their delivery notes electronically, as well as identify the origin of products and other related information. This will enable buyers to have product traceability information. For farmers, the system will provide with detailed information about the arrival of products at the market and their status. FarmLink will be fully supported by SGS who will provide user training, training documentation and a support office.
SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
FarmLink 24 service will be available 24-hours a day.
The second phase of the project will involve the introduction of RFID technology whereby the consignment information is automatically submitted to the market when the delivery truck enters the market gates. Joburg Market is currently building new entry gates and will incorporate RFID readers in the design.
