Joburg Market launches a "fresh produce" Online shopping system for international bulk buyers
Joburg Market Online shopping is available by clicking on the online logo on the home page or "Place order online" on the menu.
FAnnouncing the launch of the online shopping system, the Joburg Market’s CEO Kgosientso Ramokgopa said “Joburg Market has been highly successful and a leading player in the local fresh produce sector, but to compete on a global platform, the company has had to explore new ways of trading to enhance its global reach”.
““We are investing significant resources in technology and have become the first produce market in the continent to offer buyers on the other side of the world opportunity to place an order for fresh produce online, view prices with all the grading and sizes, and choose preferred shipping method virtually, without the buyer having to visit the Market”, Ramokgopa said.
Ramokgopa said that the system has been tested with select buyers who have expressed enthusiasm and welcomed the initiative.
“The system will delight buyers in the neighbouring countries and beyond, who due to varying reasons cannot leave their office or home to access quality affordable fresh produce. What’s more exciting about the system is that it offers a secure online shopping for fresh produce without the risk of divulging personal financial details”, says Ramokgopa.
The online ordering system is targeted mainly at international bulk buyers. Phase two (2) of the project will see the system made available in French and Portuguese languages to cater for the non-English speakers.
Online shopping is available as a link on the Joburg Market website by clicking on the logo on the home page or “Place order online” on the menu.
