Win more with potatoes!
Potato Promotion
Did you know that the informal trader/hawker sector accounts for 28% of produce sold at the Joburg Market? This makes the sector a formidable force in SA’s economy.
Joburg Market CEO, Kgosientso Ramokgopa says the Hawker sector is an important link in terms of bringing fresh produce closer to the people. “The hawker sector is the a major contributor to job creation for those who cannot secure jobs in the formal economy. It also contributes to the alleviation of poverty and has the potential to expand further the country’s economic base.
“It is for these reasons that Joburg Market has partnered with Potatoes South Africa to reward this important sector during an exciting 3-week WINA MORE! Promotion”, says Ramokgopa.
Participation in the promotion is open to hawkers who purchase 5 bags of potatoes or more at Joburg Market during the promotion period. The promotion runs from 1 to 25 June 2010 with the total value of the hawker cash prizes equating to R8 000: 1st — R5 000, 2nd — R2 000, 3rd — R1 000.
The campaign also offers an opportunity for hawkers to “Bring a Friend for more chances to win”. The idea is aimed at increasing the number of hawkers who could sell potatoes (thereby increasing the number of hawkers that take this nature’s goodness to their communities,). Each hawker will earn an extra sticker, when s/he brings a friend who also buys 5 bags of potatoes or more. It’s that simple to WINA MORE!
With Market Agents selling potatoes expected to play a crucial role in the promotion, they also stand to WIN big. The total value of sales agent prizes equates to R3000 in shopping vouchers: 1st — R1 000, 2nd — R1 000, 3rd — R1 000. The WINA MORE! promotion will see the potatoes’ agents handing out sticker cards to the hawkers – for them to complete in each week of the promotion period. The hawkers will then collect a sticker for every 5 bags of potatoes or more that they buy at the Joburg Market. At the end of each week, the completed sticker cards will be collected and tallied, following which winners will be notified on 25 June 2010 and cash or potato prizes handed out during an entertaining Awards ceremony on 29 June 2010.
