Benvinda Rocha
Acting Chief Financial Officer
Benvinda holds a B.Comm qualification and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
She started her career at the bottom of the accounting ladder, first as a creditors and cashbook clerk straight out of university. She has worked in the private sector for most of her career life and joined the Joburg Market in 2006 as a financial accountant.
Currently, Benvinda is the acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for the reporting, budgeting, procurement, property and cashier divisions. Tough as the accounting environment is with all its deadlines - Benvinda cannot image doing anything else.
Her philosophy is to do things right the first time as this saves her a lot of time in her accounting career.
Benvinda's hobby is to stay fit, so she participates in boxing, pilates and weight training. She also enjoys going to the theatre.
Jan Mocke
Jan is the Chief Operations Officer of the Joburg Market
He is also the Executive of Market of the Future, and is responsible for managing this project. His portfolio includes planning, budgeting and project management of the Market of the Future including overseeing the building of warehouse facilities and new state-of-the-art technology to increase the quality of produce sold and the service delivered to the stakeholders of Joburg Market.
Jan holds a BSc Engineering (Electronic) Degree from the University of Pretoria and an MBL from UNISA and his life philosophy is to always do what is right and to act fairly to all involved. He aptly applies this principle in his responsibilities at the Joburg Market.
He spent more than 15 years at Sapekoe Tea Estates in Tzaneen and held the position of General Manager at the time that he left. He also worked for the Industrial Development Corporation.
